About Emma.

THE 93RD DESERVES ANOTHER CHAMPION

I’m a lifelong Kentuckian. I grew up on a tobacco farm that had been in my family for three generations. I’ve spent my entire life in and around Lexington, and I’m dedicated to the community I proudly call home.

I’m not a politician—just somebody who cares about Kentucky. Rep. Lamin Swann was my mentor and my friend. He taught me that I didn’t have to stand on the sidelines, and showed me how I could become a leader in this fight.

This moment calls for leaders. The reality is this: radical ideologues are running our government, Big Business is emptying our treasury, and South Lexington deserves a champion who will fight to restore the values we hold dear.

Kentuckians are deeply good people, but our government does not represent us. We are going to win the 93rd District and send a message to Frankfort: we will Defend the Bluegrass.

Join us.

LET’S WORK, & LET’S WIN

It’ll take all of us to defend Kentucky families and create a Commonwealth that we can be proud of.

Issues.

WHY THIS FIGHT MATTERS

I’m fighting for an economy that works for working families. From affordable housing to bringing investments to preserving our freedoms, I’m committed to defending South Lexington from overreach in Frankfort.
HOUSING FOR ALL KENTUCKIANS.

Renters deserve security. Out-of-state corporations should not be allowed to hoard homes that could go to working families. I will work to end the legislature’s preemption of housing law so that our communities can pass robust tenant and homeowner protections.

EXCELLENT PUBLIC EDUCATION.

Like in Fayette County, Kentucky’s legislature should fight our teacher shortage by raising pay, not lowering standards. I oppose school vouchers, charter schools, and any measures that take funds from public schools, and I support union teachers like those that taught at my high school.

REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE.

I support abortion rights. No government—whether in Washington or in Frankfort—should stand in the way of the decision whether and when to have children. We should place our trust in Kentuckians and their doctors, and work to make sure every child grows up in a home free from abuse.

WORKERS’ RIGHTS.

Kentucky is a union state, and we should keep it that way. I will fight to repeal corporate-backed “right-to-work” laws, raise the minimum wage, thwart union-busting efforts, restore a state prevailing wage, and restore Kentucky’s proud blue collar middle class.

FAIR TAXATION.

The Republican plan to lower taxes for millionaires and jet owners, while raising taxes on the middle class, is going to bankrupt our state. That means worse public services and lower pay for teachers and first responders. I will fight for a tax structure that puts working families first.

RIGHTS FOR LGBT KENTUCKIANS.

The Republican supermajority is out of control. Radical interest groups are fighting a culture war and Kentuckians are caught in the crossfire. We must keep LGBT kids safe from political attacks, ban conversion torture, and enact a statewide Fairness Law.

HEALTHCARE WE CAN AFFORD.

Kentuckians pay too much for healthcare. Corporate and insurance lobbyists in Frankfort have fought to keep costs high and outcomes poor. We must end surprise billing, expand Medicaid to include dental, hearing, and vision care, and protect senior citizens from exploitation.

LEGAL MARIJUANA NOW.

I support fully legalizing marijuana. We must safeguard our young people from the school-to-prison pipeline, open the door to jobs and tourism dollars for the Bluegrass, and tax what’s already Kentucky’s number one cash crop to better fund schools and services.

ENDING GUN VIOLENCE.

For years, our state government has failed to respond to the devastation of gun violence. I will stand up to the NRA and fight to enact commonsense reforms like banning assault weapons and universal background checks, and putting an end to permitless open carry laws.

WINNING RACIAL JUSTICE.

I will fight to repeal laws and sentencing that disproportionately affect Black Kentuckians. I will also work to pass the CROWN Act, address our worst-in-the-nation maternal mortality rate, and ensure that the histories of race and racism continue to be taught in public schools.

DEFENDING DEMOCRACY.

I will fight for the automatic restoration of voting rights for all who have paid their debt to society. I will work to end gerrymandering, promote civics education and engagement, and expand direct democracy ballot initiatives like those in dozens of other states.

PROTECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT.

Protecting our environment protects our future. Reforestation programs, the protection of state parks, and smart investments in wind, solar, and nuclear energy will create jobs while preserving our environment and our status as a net energy exporter.
